It is Slovakia's largest church and the easternmost Gothic cathedral in Europe. Its 60 m north tower can be climbed for the view over the city.
Who lies in the crypt?
Ferenc Rákóczi II, leader of the Hungarian independence movement. His remains were brought from exile in Tekirdağ, in the Ottoman Empire, and reinterred here in 1906.
What is Košice's place in Europe?
It was European Capital of Culture in 2013 and holds Europe's oldest municipal coat of arms, granted in 1369.
