Lake Tahoe Nevada Side
Ideal: Ideal for nature, lake views, skiing, hiking, quiet holidays, and road trips.
The Nevada shore stayed lightly built for historical reasons: much of the coast long belonged to a single owner, millionaire George Whittell, and later became state park. Large granite blocks and shallow clear water at Sand Harbor define the area. The lake's volume is so great that despite sitting at 1,900 meters it rarely freezes in winter. Because the state line crosses the water, casinos cluster only on the Nevada side at Stateline.
