Did you know?

Why did Atakule become Ankara's landmark?

Opened in 1989, the 125 m tower was Ankara's first modern observation tower and long its tallest structure. Its position on the Çankaya ridge makes it visible from much of the city.

Does the restaurant at the top revolve?

Yes — the revolving restaurant on the upper floor completes a full turn in about an hour. The observation deck below offers an open-air 360-degree view over Ankara.

Where does the tower's name come from?

It combines "Atatürk" and "kule" (tower). It was built on land belonging to the Atatürk Forest Farm foundation and underwent a full renovation in the late 2010s.
