Antalya Kaleiçi

Antalya Kaleiçi is one of the notable stops in Antalya, with a route-friendly location for your trip.

Did you know?

Why is Hadrian's Gate still intact?

Built in AD 130 for the emperor's visit, the three-arched marble gate was later walled into the fortifications and fell out of use. That enclosure protected it, and it was only uncovered again in the 20th century.

What are the wheel ruts under the gate?

Deep cart-wheel grooves are visible in the gate's original paving, worn by centuries of traffic. Visitors now walk on a wooden platform beside them rather than on the stones themselves.

Why does the Fluted Minaret look like that?

Dating from the 13th century, its shaft is formed of eight half-cylinders set side by side, making it a prominent example of Seljuk architecture. Turquoise tiles on the brick shaft are partly preserved.
