How do you walk through the gorge?
A 1.6 km route runs directly above the river on wooden galleries bolted to the rock. They were built in 1893 and are renewed regularly.
How was the gorge discovered?
A local mayor and a photographer found it in 1891. Within two years the walkway was built and the site opened to the public, and it has been visited ever since.
Do you need to book a visit?
Yes. Timed tickets must be bought in advance, to manage crowds and safety on the narrow walkways.
