Kennedy Space Center

Ideal: Ideal for space, science, technology, family trips, and distinctive museum visits.

Every U.S. crewed spaceflight since 1968 has launched from here. The Vehicle Assembly Building where rockets are stacked vertically is one of the world's largest single-story structures by volume; it is so vast that clouds were once said to form under the ceiling. Retired shuttle Atlantis is not displayed flat: payload doors open and it hangs at a 43-degree angle so visitors see it as if in orbit. On launch days viewing is possible from designated areas.

Why go?

  • To see NASA and space exploration history up close
  • To explore rockets, spacecraft, and astronaut stories
  • For a strong science-focused route beyond Florida's beaches and theme parks

Travel tip

Visits often run several hours — start early for rocket exhibits and bus tours.
