Born in Amstelveen in the Netherlands, Martin Garrix topped the charts with Animals in 2013 at seventeen. He went on to found his own label and became one of the most visible names on electronic festival main stages. Amsterdam is still the centre of his calendar.

Festival set or club set?

On a festival main stage the set runs 60-75 minutes, is built on the well-known tracks and comes with an enormous production: LED walls, pyrotechnics and synchronised lighting. The crowd is counted in tens of thousands, and getting near the stage means holding a spot for hours.

Book timed tickets for the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum — they share a square and fill a day together. The Anne Frank House is sold online only and goes weeks in advance. To keep the day of the set light, a canal cruise is a good option: you see the city sitting down.
