Lake Skadar is shared by Montenegro and Albania, and its surface area changes considerably with seasonal water levels. The Montenegrin national park protects reed beds, water-lily bays, bird habitats and historic shoreline settlements. Virpazar is a common starting point for boat and lakeside routes.
