Lake Skadar
Ideal: Birdwatchers and travellers who enjoy wetlands and calm boat trips
Lake Skadar is shared by Montenegro and Albania, and its surface area changes considerably with seasonal water levels. The Montenegrin national park protects reed beds, water-lily bays, bird habitats and historic shoreline settlements. Virpazar is a common starting point for boat and lakeside routes. Visitors should choose authorised operators, follow protected-area rules and keep a respectful distance from wildlife.
