Disneyland Anaheim
Ideal: Ideal for families, theme park fans, Disney devotees, and full-day entertainment.
It opened on July 17, 1955, built in just one year on former orange groves. Opening day was a disaster: 28,000 people entered on counterfeit tickets, heels sank into asphalt that had not set, and fountains failed in a heat wave — the day is remembered as Black Sunday. Walt Disney lived in a small apartment above the fire station, and the lamp in its window stays lit to symbolize that he is still there. This is the only park he personally walked every day.
