Who are Weezer?

Weezer formed in Los Angeles in 1992 and, with the self-titled debut fans call the Blue Album two years later, became one of the defining bands of 1990s alternative rock. "Buddy Holly", "Undone – The Sweater Song" and "Say It Ain't So" all came from that record; the Spike Jonze-directed video for "Buddy Holly" won four MTV Video Music Awards in 1995.

The line-up has not changed since 2001: Rivers Cuomo (vocals, guitar, keys), Patrick Wilson (drums), Brian Bell (guitar) and Scott Shriner (bass). The band has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide. Achievements and milestones

• The Blue Album is certified five-times platinum in the United States and remains the band's best-selling record.
• The "Buddy Holly" video won four awards at the 1995 MTV Video Music Awards, including Breakthrough Video and Best Alternative Video.
• "Beverly Hills" (2005) became the band's first song to reach the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100.
• In 2022 the band released SZNZ, four albums built around the seasons; its songs "A Little Bit of Love" and "Records" both topped the Alternative Airplay chart.

Three bands in one night: doors are earlier than you think

On The Gathering tour three bands play: The Shins and Silversun Pickups both go on before Weezer. That leaves close to two hours between doors and the headline set. If you only came for Weezer that is not bad news, but with a standing floor ticket you will spend those two hours on your feet as well.

Arena, festival or amphitheatre?

Weezer plays three different formats and they are not the same show. In an indoor arena the sound balance is controlled and the set is at its longest. At summer amphitheatres the lawn section is cheap but you watch the stage on a screen. At a festival the set gets noticeably shorter and leans on the hits.

The venue name on the event card tells you which format you are in. Setting the right expectation for the set list

Weezer has nineteen studio albums and three of them are called "Weezer". The tour name you see when buying is the strongest clue about which era the night leans on: anniversary shows play a single album front to back, while ordinary tour dates draw on thirty years of material.

"Shine Again", the lead single from the twentieth studio album, arrived in April 2026. A tour behind a new record always puts a few new songs in the set; do not turn up expecting only the 1990s catalogue.
